NRA Basic Pistol Course

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting (BOPS) Course is an NRA Certified Course curriculum designed for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience. The goal of the curriculum is to teach the Basic Knowledge, Skills and Attitude necessary for Owning and using a Pistol Safety. The sessions will cover:

  • Pistol Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling

  • Ammunition Knowledge & the Fundamental of Pistol Shooting

  • Shooting Position and Shooting Qualification

  • Selecting and Maintaining your Pistol

  • Continued Skill Development

Participants who successfully complete this session receive a Certificate of Completion for 8 hours of accredited instruction which can be used towards the 16-hour requirements of the Illinois Concealed Carry application process.
